Tubing in North Carolina is one of my favorite things to do!

For us road trips are about detours. Yes, we have a destination in mind, but it's the quick stops off the main road that make the best memories. Our latest detour took us to Bryson City, NC for the afternoon.

I've always had my eye on Bryson City, NC!

On a quick trip to visit colleges this spring, my daughter and I had to make a detour. We didn't have to, we choose too! We share the same sense of adventure, and well...tubing seemed to be the perfect thing to do between colleges.

  • Deep Creek tubing is an exhilarating experience that draws countless visitors every year. Deep Creek is a scenic mountain stream that winds its way through the area, offering fantastic tubing opportunities suitable for all ages. The concept is simple: you hop into a large inflatable tube and float downstream along the gently flowing water, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains.
  • Family-Friendly Fun: Deep Creek tubing is an activity that the whole family can enjoy together. Whether you're with young kids or teenagers, the experience is safe, enjoyable, and sure to create lasting memories. There is a short hike up to where you put the tubes into the river. Stop just after the bridge if you have smaller children and put your tube in there. For a little more adventure, hike up a little farther. Beware, there are one or two small drops (about 3ft high) where there's a good chance you can flip your tube!
  • Tube Rentals: Don't worry about bringing your own tube. You can easily rent them from several outfitters located in and around Bryson City. The rental process is straightforward, and the staff will provide you with all the necessary gear and safety instructions before you set off on your tubing adventure. We rented from JJ"s Tubes for $8/tube for the entire day. It's located on the left before you get to the park. He will tie them to the top of your vehicle for you!
  • Scenic Beauty: As you gently float down the creek, you'll be surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. The lush forests, the gentle rustling of leaves, and the bubbling of the creek create a serene atmosphere that allows you to immerse yourself fully in the moment. You even pass a waterfall, where kids like to get out and swim.
  • Nearby Attractions: Bryson City has much more to offer beyond tubing. After your tubing adventure, you can explore the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, go hiking on scenic trails, enjoy a peaceful picnic by the creek, or take a scenic train ride on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. We stopped at the little market, checked out the fish museum, and walked through several stores downtown!
